EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is an extensively researched, leading treatment for trauma and PTSD. It is also used for a variety of conditions which create dysregulation including anxiety and depression. EMDR’s intent is to change the way the body holds trauma, so that the person is not constantly reliving and replaying the traumatic experience. This may allow the person to be in the present, as opposed to living in a past trauma which continues to repeat the negative beliefs and imagery encoded in the nervous system as unprocessed traumatic experience.
